If you want to go on holiday but you want to do something a little bit out of the ordinary, a cruise will certainly provide you with precisely this. Not only will they help you to see a lot in a short space of time, but they are easy to go on off-season, and can be relatively affordable as well. The expense of the cruise, however, really does begin to add up when you get to onboard, especially if you have not chosen an all-inclusive package. Among the high costs will be alcohol charges, and although most ships will have fairly strict guidelines in regards to bringing alcohol on board, this doesn't mean that you cannot slip a few bottles through the net.
You have to remember that while ships will have guidelines to prevent or put people sneaking alcohol onboard, they were not reprimand you in any way if you're caught doing so. The worst thing that will happen to you if you are caught will be having your alcohol confiscated until the end of the trip when it will be returned to you. At the end of the day, therefore, it is worth the effort to try to smuggle at least something on board.
Firstly, remember not to use actual liquor bottles. If you are caught with a bottle of vodka, wine, and so on you will certainly have these taken away. Your luggage will be run through an x-ray machine and, while these cannot pick up exactly what the contents of the bottle will be, they will recognize the outline. Given that wine, spirits, and so on have fairly distinctive shapes, you will be caught if you don't think outside the box.
You also need to remember that everything needs to be put in luggage, not in your carry-on. Your carry-on bags are far more likely to be hand searched and therefore you may well find yourself caught out.
Possibly the best way to get alcohol onboard, almost guaranteed, will be by using empty toiletry containers. Simply accumulate a few empty containers and decant your favored alcoholic beverage into them. Just make sure that you don't use anything that is highly scented as this is likely to rub off and spoil your drink.
Water bottles will often work as well. Even though you are not meant to take water bottles aboard cruises, these are far less likely to be taken away or even checked, especially if they are locked in your checked luggage.
