Weight Loss
For anyone who has ever put on those pesky ten holiday pounds, or perhaps allowed themselves to slowly creep up to what can be termed clinically obese, seems to be on an unending quest of learning how to lose weight fast. Just remember one hard and fast rule: you didn't gain it quickly, and you aren't easily going to lose it quickly.
There are really two types of weight to consider: fat and water. Fat is of course more difficult to get rid of but when it is gone, it tends to stay gone longer. Water weight comes and goes almost on a daily basis. Foods, hormones and activity levels can contribute to bloated stomachs, fingers and ankles, making clothes and shoes fit poorly or not at all.
Occasionally you can lose five pounds of fluid buildup literally overnight using an over the counter or even a prescription medication that removes excess fluids. These preparations should only be used on an intermittent basis. Although effective, overuse can cause severe symptoms from fainting and dehydration to even magnesium deficiencies.
If you are just looking to get rid of those five pounds you just put on during vacation, that can be done fairly fast. Without starving yourself, a few dietary adjustments can help you drop these pounds in a few weeks. Add fruits and vegetables instead of potatoes and rice. Eat yogurt instead of sugary desserts. Choose a granola or cereal bar for a snack instead of candy.
Simple changes that you are willing to make are the best choices. Trying to starve, eat foods you don't even like, or give up foods you really enjoy will only lead to failure.
If you understand that it won't happen overnight, and if you follow a regime that is tolerable for you over a few weeks, you'll be fine.
